Per Thayne: I groomed from farm to Solon on trail 4, then trail 1 from Solon to Tiffin and back to Solon, then trail 4 back to farm. I will be grooming Tuesday and Wednesday if all goes well. I hope to talk Don Miller into grooming to Sutliff tomorrow so that I can do trail 4 to Ely then on to Sueyville and around the horn to 965 and south to North Liberty. May keep the groomer at my condo over night and then groom Dubuque Street then back to Solon. If time allows I will do 4A and trail 8 and 8N also. We hope to get more snow this Tuesday and Wednesday. There is open water in the ditch east of 76 Club about a quarter of a mile so everyone should be careful. I went through with the groomer so I made a mess. My bad just did not know there was water there until I broke through. I will keep you posted on progress. Dewey is at the farm but the blade is frozen down so I can’t use it. Will try and chop it out some time this week.
Louie has been out a few times but we need more snow to make it effective.
Louie did an incredible job last week. We took it down Mohawk road south of Shueyville and it handled this as it was designed. No way a traditional drag could have made it there. This is the right groomer for our area.
New chip coming for the tractor. This will increase the HP and let the machine run like it was designed.
I took the groomer out on Sunday in the drizzle just to try it out. Once you get used to it the process is easier than Dewey. It went through drifters easier and was taking the air out of the snow. Powered right through drifts in 4 wheel drive. It is going to be good. Definately easier in the ditches!
